I germinated 30 seeds from which 25 sprouted after 2 days. Plants were vegged for 4 weeks reaching around 12 inches in height, feeded with Canna Terra Vega 2 times a week.
12 days after switching to 12/12, 15 plants turned out to be female, 10 were male. I continued to feed Terra Vega this 12 days then switched to Terra Flores and B'cuzz bud booster 2 times a week.
Despite my belief the crop turned out to be mostly uniform with only two ladies showing a more Sativa dominated pheno. Most plants tripled in height the first weeks after 12/12.
I was really surprised at how fast the plants filled out. The buddage at 4 weeks 12/12 was already outstanding. Plants finished in 63 days without any problems.
Total trimmed and dry harvest was nearly 400g and leaved me pleased.
I find this variety good value, easy to grow, high yielding with good potency. Only the taste is a bit harsh.....

For Veg. I used Flouros, early flowering because Big Bud increases overall size about 300% after switching to 12/12.
For Bloom I used 600W HPS. Standard nutes + handwatering. no extra Co2 and only 1 gallon soil pots (TEKKU ~15x15x25). Good ventilation is recommended.
The flowering time was different. In the phenos there was a fast low quality smoke pheno that comes to harvest after 8 1/2 Weeks. The second pheno was the biggest yielder and comes to harvest a week later. The other one is a very sativa-like, maybe neverending pheno that create unstopable more new calyx (maybe good for revegging).
I only make the clones of pheno 2 to motherplants, pheno2 was the best smoke of my BB series, and the yield was more than pheno 1 and 3.
The Yield was about 60 and 120 grams per plant dry weed.

Oldest commercial strain and I can tell you that I know why it got it's award at the Cup back in '89. Cheap seeds, hardy easy to grow plants, lots of sticky dank buds that you can sell by the quarter-pounder!!!
Guerilla Growin':
Started off with 30 seeds, all germinated in 2 days. The sprouts were put in tiny youghurt cups and taken to the grow spot after 3-4 weeks of vegging. Then I transplanted the little ones directly into the soil in a window of five days of cloudy/rainy weather in June. Found this to be a plus for their root making and overall survival rate. I also transplanted bag when the weather was good and the seedlings got roasted. A good start is all it takes...
The rest was easy as pie: visited the grow spot once every two weeks with two 2L bottles of 15-15-15 fert. Many plants got stunted because of the poor soil, but they all pulled through though. Had to chop a lot of males also but that's what you get for growing in soil that has the Ph of 5.5.
Plants were very hardy and the bugs loved them. I've found that locusts, snails and cattarpillars love to munch on Big Bud leaf but the plants grow fast as if they didn't give a damn about anything. Word to the wise: indoors these plants suffer a lot from spidermites so be equipped and prepaired!
The Harvest:
Harvested in early October because I feared the rains and therefore the mold. When I chopped I found that none of my 5 females had any sort of mold, neither did my friend with his Big Buds. We both found a trace of bud rot due to the dew, but that's not a drawback. It only tastes harsher when smoked...
Filled 2 trashbags with the buds from 5 plants and it smelled so damn skunky. Don't know why, but some people enjoy this smell. I shure don't. Dried the shit in my room and couldn't sleep at night for three days. You could smell it from outside my room through the door!
The Smoke:
Great smoke! Never get tired of it. Can be rough for the neck and you do occasionally cough (oldschool skunk). Can't make a joint without scissors as it's so sticky. The high is very sociable and literally you can't stop laughing. It has some stoney qualities to it, but I cut mine early so the CBD didn't really form. Last year I left them longer than this year and it was killer. Half an hour for you is 3 minutes at the clock and that sort of shit. Not to be taken lightly. I've had some panic attacks from it, not to mention powerful heart palpitations.
Personal Opinion:
Great dank. Deffinitely going to grow it again and again. You can get up to half a kilo off a female and I'm not exagerrating in any way. I saw it. I've had a super female, that 1 in 4 that they said in the description. I didn't leave her fatten her buds as she should have, but she did form the fattest stickiest buds I've ever seen!
Few pics are mine...

The plant grew exceedingly well thru most of it's growth and produced nice tight nuggets average roughly the size of golfballs and several colas above ten inches in length (Some LST used in early veg) The buds were very sticky and trichome developement wasy dense with long thin resin glands giving the flowers the appearence of being frosted with sugar. Yield I felt was not as impressive as the hype but it was still a good yielder just not quite what I expected. I was most disappointed in the flavor. Breaking it up or smelling the smoke in the room it has a good pungent classic marijuana odor but when you smoke it there seems to be no flavor and that's after a one month cure. The high is okay but nothing to get excited about some who have sampled it report a sort of "Dark High". I find the high also failed to live up to the hype. Bottomline is it produce a bag of smoke that you feel good about and maybe even get excited about it while cleaning some but when you smoke it you are disappointed in the taste but soon don't care because you are pleasently buzzed. An okay source of bulk average weed.

Three strain grow, 2 females each of Big Bud, Jack Herer and Master Kush. Soil is a mixture of generic enriched potting soil (with a slightly better blend of nutrients then Miracle Grow) with perlite, vermiculite and dolomite lime added. Veg ferts used as recommended using Ionic Grow for Soil and Coco supplemented on occassion with superthrive (usually at transplant) Growroom is 5' x 8' x 8' walls lined with mylar, themps controlled by airconditioning and ventillation, humidity controlled by monitor and dehumidifier, light was 2 x 800W MH HIDs suspended 12 inches above the plants in veg (18 inches the first two weeks). 1000W top air cooled HPS HID during flower high efficiency furnace blower for air cooling and also active exhaust with a passive intake to fresh cool air, lights were suspended 18" above plants. Plants started from seed germed in paper towel and water sprouted in one gallon pots ferts started in third to fourth week of veg and administered according to directions. SuperThrive used at transplants which occured at 5 weeks veg into 3 gallon buckets and again at week 10 into 5 gallon buckets. Water and soil ph maintained at a steady 6.5 watered approximately every three to four days. 16 inch oscillating fan provided air circulation. Ferts used in flower were Ionic Bloom and Ionic Bloom Boost also applied as directed.

This was my first grow. I grew 5 plants of Nirvana Big Bud and 5 plants of Sensi Early Skunk together. Over all I found the growing process to be fun and fairly easy. I think the Big Buds are a very hardy and easy to grow strain which I'm sure made things a little easier for me. 3 out of 5 plants ended up being female. The plants yielded with and efficiency of about .5g/Watt.
I trimmed all but the smallest of leaves. Some of the small leaves were just so covered with trichs I just had to leave the on. I dried the buds by hanging in a cool dark area with pretty good air circulation. I dried them for about 5 days then I started the cure process by placing them in mason jars. I gave them some air every day for a few weeks. Now a month later on some of the first harvest I have fully cured, prime bud. The smell is very pungent with a background of sweet fruitiness. On a rare occasion I'll take a hit that is a little harsh on the exhale, but no big deal. This bud is so much better than anything I've ever bought. The high is great. 3 to 5 hits off my bowl and I am totally fried. Everything just tingles. It’s such a pleasant high that stays on strong for a few hours.

Grow Room - The room is in a closet under a set of stairs. The grow space used was 3' x 4' with an average height of about 60". The ventilation used a passive intake along the floor at the rear of the grow room. The exhaust was a twin fan window fan. It was above the door to the room and exhaust into the garage. I also used a portable 9000BTU air conditioner and a 7" oscillating fan.
Lighting - Initially the seedlings were kept under 160W of fluoros on an 18/6 lighting scheduled. After about a week to 10 days they were switched to 24/0. A 21 days they were put under a new light I built. It was 16 32W T8 fluoros. They were very tightly packed and gave off a great amount of light. This was used throughout the remainder of the veg cycle which was 6 weeks. I then switched the plants over to 12/12 using a 400W HPS for the primary light and two 128W T8 Light Modules to throw light on the lower branches.
Grow Medium - For the seedlings I used Ferry Morse seed starter mix. It is a well balanced soil-less medium that has no added nutrients. This lets you add what ever you please. After the first transplant the plants are in a soil-less medium consisting of 3 parts ProMix to 1 part Perlite to 1 part Vermiculite.
Water and Nutes - Water used was filtered well water. It always tested slightly acid. I started off using Peter's GP fertilizer 20-20-20. It worked fine, but later I decided to go organic. During veg I switched to Alaska Fish Emulsion. During flower I used Earth Juice Bloom.
