Breeder's Description - 'Power Plant'
|
Power Plant (mostly Sativa) was developed by us in 1997 from new South African genetics. This strain has been inbred only, never hybridized. Very rich in THC. It is a strain with an enormous grow potential. Indoor as well as in a greenhouse the plants have an enormous yield. Indoors flowering starts as early as one week after turning back the light cycle to 12 hours. Outdoor, flowering starts late, but the plants ripen very fast. This variety is very uniform. Strong "up high", very soft smoke.
THC = 13.1%, CBD < 0.1%

A fast growing mainly sativa with African origins. I'm on my fifth grow now with PP all from the same mother stock. I have found them to be very reliable in all stages of growth, but due to the vigour I would advise supplementing any nutes with Magnesium. I really notice the Mag def after the first couple of weeks in flower. A friend who just runs a 400w system has never had Mag problems with plants from the same mothers, so I'm guessing that they start to suffer when you push them with higher wattages.
From a two week vegging period (clone) and then allowing for flowering stretch the PP tops out at between 3.5ft and 5ft. The stretch is very much pheno dependent though, with the shorter pheno being a quicker finisher (six weeks) in my experience.
The stretch of the PP can be filled though to produce some large dense buds, also tying down helps to produce more top stems for bud production. A plant with numerous 12"+ colas is easily possible given the right conditions.
The resin production on PP is good, with all buds having a good thick coating of trichomes. Nice easy plant to harvest, and the shake contains copious amounts of crystal so i'ts a very good strain for hashmaking as well.
Overall I'm more than happy with PP, it took me a couple of grows to get them dialed in, but they're firing on all cylinders for me now.

Growth
Power Plant hasn't been the easiest to grow compared to other plants in my garden but the end results have been fantastic.
Veg growth is quite rapid, but nute lockout is easily done. I found it hard to keep the leaves a uniform colour, but even after quite a beating it still flowered fine.
The plant triples in height when switched to flower, and then it really laps up the nutes. It has a very high calyx to leaf ratio with only a few bud sites, the buds swell plenty though to make up for this. Pistils are yellow not white.
Smoke
My first try with PP was hydro with cheap chemmy nutes and no flush. As you can imagine it was like going to a crap coffeeshop in Amsterdam, metallic as hell. But after smoking my brothers cutting which he took before I flowered I was amazing by the smooth uplifting high. Easily the one of the best daytime smokes I've had -motivating, happy and funny.
In the evenings you can keep smoking this baby and you'll get higher and higher, no paras, and plenty of headroom for hardcore smokers.
Recommended highly.

I grew Power Plant from seed (Dutch Passion, Standard). Germinated 3 had 1 female with hermy tendences in the first quarter of flowering. Later on I had no more trouble and she came along nicely.
I put the plants in bloom at a height of 7.5 inches.
The one female I had stopped growing at a final height of 45.3 inches.

3/3 germinated. 2 were hermies. We took clones when the plants were 30-40 cm. Grew them SOG-style when rooted. They grew from 10 to 40 cm the first two weeks in flowering. (see pic)
I didn't have any problems with nutes at all, gave them both 2-2-4 and 0-13-14 during flowering and they liked it. Flushed for a week.
Had some heatburn due to ventilation problems the last two weeks, it affected the yield.
When dry the buds tasted a bit woody but smooth with a very uplifting high perfect for a party.
It should have been easier growing this since it seemed like a good beginners choice, but we had some trouble not getting the yields we wanted, next time we hope it will go easier.
We also noticed that the strain is sensitive to mites, compared to other strains in our garden.
Happy growing!

This my 1st time with PP, I used feminzed seeds and got 4 keepers that grew very strong an uniformed.
In veg I used BioBizz. Grew till they were about 12-15 inches never had problems during veg. Then I choose the best plants out of them, then put them into Flower.
In flowering I just used BioBizz Bloom until the week 4 then started adding TopMax as well, they started showing signs of budding within the 1st week, but I noticed towards the last week or 2 they started getting Mag deficiency. So I just gave them a dose of Epson salts and that didn’t half help them out, they took a lot of Bloom before I started seeing tip burn.
I flowered the plants till ½ of the pistils had changed and I let 1 go a little longer all had great yeilds.
I would grow this again

Have been growing PP for almost 2.5 years now. Have found her to be quite a uniform short plant. It demands a lot of maintenance work to grow properly & watch out for magnesium lockouts which can have a hell of a difference on your final yields.
Produces rock hard buds you could probably smash a window witth. Powerplant is a reliable producer time after time. with a euphoric hit, why not try yourself.

Warning: Keep in mind that my power plant is a selected short and squat pheno on 2 packs!
In a Dutch Passion packs you would get also trees and purple one ...
Mine stays short and squat . And it is very easy to grow !
The taste change a lot from the typical Dutch pool, it was a little difficult at the beginning but now she's one of my favorites.
It tastes good: herbal, green, skunky, and it is very strong with no indica effects. Very stimulating high.
Very easy to clone. It can root in one week. And doesn't strech a lot because it starts flowering after one week of 12/12. (So it is like a 7 weeks flowering plant but with only 1 week of strecth!)
This explains the high production!
She's a very good yielder. She's not ashamed in front of a Chronic!

I started out in a small rockwool cube soaked with formulex.
I put it into a GH Waterfarm hydro kit in expanded clay pebbles and used Canna Aqua Vega nutrients during veg. Vegged under fluorescents for 67 days (a little longer than i really wanted to, since i'm growing in a cupboard and height is a restricting factor, but I got away with it by paperclipping tie stems down to form a nice level canopy of buds)
Switched to 250w HPS and Canna Aqua Flores nutrients for the flowering period, which took 50 days to full maturation (including around 5 days on General Hydroponics' Ripen at the end to aid bud ripening, and 10 days flushing after that with water).
This is my second grow with power plant, and I must say it just keeps getting better. A joy to grow, it will take a beating and come back strong. Great yields.

Germinated 2/2 got 1 female.Grew it outdoor in pot (25 lt).
Planted the 2nd week of April
P.P. is a fast growing and vigorous plant not very tall, bushy with many leaves. It's quite easy to grow except for magnesium deficency in flowering (use some Epsom salt ) but this seems to be normal with this strain.
Very I mean VERY odorous in late flowering.
Harvested the 10th of October when all the pistils were red.
P.P. has fat rocky buds with a good quantity of resin.
The yeild is respectable.
The smoke after 15 days of drying and 15 of curing is soft, smooth, sweet, fruity (mainly citrus and orange) with piney undertones.
The effect is mainly in the head ,uplifting with a good potency without body effect; very good day smoking almost inspiring.
In conclusion it's a good strain and I will grow it indoor the next time.
