  Breeder's Description - 'AK47'

This easy to grow plant is our most popular. It is of medium height and produces good yields quite quickly. Extremely STRONG odor and smoke. Take extra care for odor control when growing near neighbors. The name was given not out of any idea of violence, but more in association with the ‘one hit wonder’ that the smoke is. Quality without compromise makes AK suitable for commercial grows or home use. These plants have a short flowering period for a sativa, producing compact, not too leafy buds that gleam with a coat of resin crystals. Winning SEVEN prizes!! in Cannabis competitions, including ...continued

I've been growing AK for a year or so (4/5 crops).
It was given to me as a cutting.
I know there are two identified AK phenos: the Indica one that blooms in 50/55 days, and the more Sativa one, blooming in 67/70 days, which is the one I have.
It's an incredibly good pheno, one of my favorites in the garden.
Easy to grow, easy to clone.
Makes a branchy medium tall plant, with a quite Indica stature.
Large, thin Sativa style leaves.
Doesn't need much nutes, keep the level under 1.50 and she'll be happy.
High odor level, venting the garden is a priority, especially indoors.
Big air exchange needed.
The girl makes big fluffy spiraling buds covered with white shiny trichomes, that really bloom the 2 last weeks, while flushing: calyx explosion.
Expect a very high yield. (I did 1.02 gr/watts last crop)
Once dried, manicured (easy step, as the calyx to leaf ratio is very good, takes 20 mn to manicure a whole plant nicely) and cured for at least 3 weeks, you'll get one of the best smoke you can dream of. Tasty, and powerful.
Not a knock-off Indica body stone, more something like a cerebral stone.
Still able to move yourself and do things, but if you charge the dose, you get wasted and confused (without ever beeing sick), but mental cognition is going to be difficult.
Still, a light dosed spliff of it will give you the good mood and energy for creative stuff.
In my opinion, a must have.
Serious stuff!

The sativa pheno of AK 47 grows tall and has thin, flexible branches and stem. This makes it a plant that likes to sway in the wind, and good air cirtculation is absolutely essential as this strain is prone to airborne bacterial disease. The stems and branches are purplish throughout veg and flowering. As the flowering period ends you better watch those sagging branches, otherwise you might find a broken branch or two. The leaves are typically sativa in size and shape. The lower branches should be pruned away to avoid small lower buds that have more branch than bud. Given the right conditions this plant is easy enough to grow, but attention should be paid to providing adequate levels of N which tends to cause early yellowing if not adequately addressed.

This plant is a drinker, so keep it well fed and your AK will be happy.

The smoke is phenomenal; extremely fruity, hard hitting and very up, racy high. As a friend once said, a couple of puffs is all you really need for a manageable, enjot\yable, and highly social high. A few more puffs and your sociability will drop off as your mind soars.

The hash from AK is excellent, some of the tastiest and most potent I have made.

I really like the Serious AK47. I have grown both Serious' AK47 and Nirvana's AK47. Nirvana's is nice but get the Serious if you can afford it. This plant is very bushy. I had excellent germ rates and 7 of 10 females. The plants grow very vigorously, and make nice yields of resiny buds. I did notice a bit of sensitivity to nutes and strangely enough it varied among plants from the same seeds. Some seemed to be starving while others were getting burnt, but they grew none the less and produced nice yeilds from 4 to 9 oz per plant. All of the plants had a nice fruity smell, like now and later candies. I had one pheno that was more Sativa like. In budding it didn't stretch but the buds were loose and running with highly swollen calyxes; oddly enough this pheno finished fastest and yeilded least but was none the less my personal favorite. It smells like the sweetest cherry candies and I just can't get enough of smelling them. They are the most wonderful smelling buds I have ever experienced, even better than Blueberry. This pheno also has the best buzz. A very nice up high. Definitelty head stash, and the smell is just as strong on dried bud as when fresh.

This strain develops a sturdy skeletal system with thin but extremely strong branching, and for me had the tendency to bush out filling any empty space in the garden.

These plants were vegged for about 28 days, flowered at approximately 12 inches and they took 45 to 49 days to finish with an average finished height of 36 inches. Can easily go to 48 from seed but can be controlled using clones.

Strain description says finish time is approximately 47 Days 12/12 which seemed to be right in-line with this garden. The AK-47 in this garden were harvested after @ 46 to 49 Days of Flowering and could have gone to 55.

Every plant was extremely uniform with the Buds that are humongous and quite a pleasure to view. I found that while the AK-47 did produce an abundance of bud, the buds grew out a bit fluffy and "slightly" airy.

The AK-47 was a bit harsh-- "Extremely expansive in the lungs" to smoke but the taste and Overall High makes this a wonderful strain to grow and smoke.

IMO, The AK-47 is not a very good strain to use for hashmaking, reason being this strain has a VERY high calyx to leaf ratio leaving you with very little waste and or sugar leaf to use for this.

I give Serious Seeds AK-47:
7 for Potency
9 for Uniformity
9 for Stability
8 for Production
10 for Ease of Growing.

Overall this is an amazing strain that is well suited for the Indoor Gardener. This strains height can be easily controlled with pruning and or various stress and can be used in a SOG type garden. Also as shown in the attached pic "footlong" which was an experiment from clone-- pulled early and produced .75 ounces dry.

In a large Bush style grow, given enough space, achieving 4 to 6 ounces per plant is not uncommon. I have had superb results with what i have grown of the Serious seeds brand. Simon of Serious Seeds is a well established Breeder who has the ability to produce some of the world's finest and most uniform strains. He does exactly that. You can not go wrong using any of the excellent strains that Serious Seeds has to offer.

I have grown AK47 a few times now inside and out I have found that in my pack of 15 seeds I had 3 diffrent phenos!

The first one I'm going to tell you about is the one that I have killed off and won't be using again; it leans more to the Sativa side of things, takes longer to flower has less resin and does not smell 1/2 as good as the other 2.

The second on is a short stumpy little girl. Only had 1 out of a pack of 15 and her nodes are about 1/4 inch appart; nice and sweet cherry smell with a good amount of resin that comes off of the buds and down the leaves!

The third is my fav; she is a proper Sativa/Indica cross. You can see it in her she is the best yielder, has the most resin "shit she even stank in veg" and makes your whole yard house wherever you are growing it smell of cherry bubblegum YUMMMMMMMMYYY!

Outside plants were vegged inside untill July and then put outside to ripen. The 2 Sativa plant yielded shit and smoked crap. The Indica pheno was nice and yielded 2.5/3 oz and my best Sativa/Indica yeilded 5 oz.

Inside, first time, bush style, 800 watts of HPS, fed with chems. Average yield 2.5 oz per plant.

Third grow, 80 cherry bubblegum AK cuttings, 4800w NFT Superbud 53 days and average of 1 oz per plant!

Just love this strain!

Grow:

Germinated 4 beans, vegged for 5 weeks. Showed sex in veg, two turned out female. One was definitely more Indica phenotype and other was sativa. Force-finished both at 9 weeks, but the Indica pheno could've finished week earlier and the sativa one might've wanted a week more. Guess which one grew a lot bushier, too (topped both once). Grows very dense, heavy bud with plenty of crystals.

Smoke:

Odor and smoke are very dry and strong, perhaps bitter, definitely nothing that would even remotely resemble a "cherry pheno". Dang. Better grow more.

Effects on sativa pheno are very heady, and there are only little body effects. Straightforward sativa high, with minor Indica influence. Potential couch-lock (if you smoke too much) but fast thinking.

The Indica pheno is stronger than the sativa, and not only hits head but also body. Stoned and high, strange indeed.

Conclusion:

AK-47 is the strongest sativa I have ever smoked. It's not too good tasting, and the effect is rather straightforward, but hey, when you get hit by a baseball bat it don't matter exactly how big the bat was, you're still going out. D'oh. Very simple to grow and yields well, too.

p.s. I think you can make out from the pictures which one is which. Sativa one yielded 60g, Indica 85g.

Only started out planting 7 of my 15 seeds. Was able to nab 3 females out of the bunch. The pictures shown are strictly from the plant which I chose to keep as a mother. The other 2 plants were almost identical in shape & appearance. The main difference here was the significant yield that this particular plant has.

If the high of the other 2 females was worth keeping, I would have sacrificed the yield but there is really no need. This particular plant has a super strong Luden Cherry Cough Drop flavor. The smell really becomes evident after it's been in the jar for a week or so.

I couldn't really put my finger on the smell exactly, until one of my friends came over & smelt it & said, "this smell just like Ludens!". It had/has been so long since I?ve had those! The strain gets completely coated with resin & more than likely wouldn't be my #1 choice for hash making, because as someone said in a previous review this strain does not have much trim (which quite frankly is alright with me). You DO get trim though & the little that you do get turns into some of the finest kief I?ve ever smoked.

From beginning to end this plant is a breeze to grow. These pictures show my 1st attempt at a SOG with this strain & needless to say I'm pretty happy with the results. The pictures of the cured buds are from the original plants grown from seed. Even though these plants were cut & cloned (to establish mothers) right before flowering, on average these plants yielded roughly 38 grams, which isn't bad considering they didn?t have many established tops from cutting.

The potency level was a little lower than average only because I was really expecting this "incredibly massive & overwhelming high". I really think it's because of how popular it is. It's more than likely my own disillusion. Nonetheless, based upon what I see already this particular pheno can only get better.

Overall a beautiful, high yielding, good tasting/smelling strain with a nice clear soaring high. Recommended!

Plants were vegged in a separate veg area above the flowering room under dual 40w fluroescents. Clones are simply put into a small seedling/clone starter cells which are filled with a mix of Scotts Seedling Starter Mix & Perlite & Vermiculite.

Plants were transplanted into a soil mix with added Perlite, vermiculite, blood meal & bone meal.

Fertilized only 3 times with Peter's chemical ferts. Peter's 20-20-20 after 3 weeks of vegging (a very light dose!). Once flowering began, I fertilized with Peter's 10-50-5 (pink) once at a little less than 1/2 strength mixed with some diluted Epsom Salts & then once again at ALMOST full strength. Ended it with a full flushing.

Plants drank an average amount of water considering how much they grow. You can really see where that water is being uptaken to!

Grew out the pack with good germination result, 15/15, in about 1.5 days. Vegged under 400 watt HPS for about 30 days. Showed sex around beginning of 2nd week of 12/12, identifying 13/2 in favor of the ladies. I did find some inconsistency with regards to appearance and discarded several runts -that was a little disappointing. Clones were flowered once rooted and placed into flowering room for about 50-55 days of 12/12. They stretched very little and yielded around 1/2 to 3/4 ounce per cola. Extreme caution to indoor growers as these are reeking.

This time growing AK47 I got lucky, one seed was all I needed. Having problems with this plant on my first grow, I decided to try it again and this time I made a few changes. I started my change with some new soil from Fox Farm (Ocean Forest). I added tons of perlite to the mix and watched in amazement at the growth frenzy that happened. I vegged this AK47 female under a new 430w HPS Son-T bulb, witch provided much of the blue spectrum needed for rapid vegetative growth. After my first rough start I also decided to change fertilizers. I purchased Canna Terra series Grow/Bloom nutrients and fed them once in the last week of 50 days of veg (half dose).

I topped this plant once, and got two main stems. I also purchased Canna Rhyzotonic. Fearing this female would get rootbound I transplanted @ about day 52 into a nicer, larger 3 gallon pot with nice drain holes (adding Superthrive), the 3 gallon grow bags weren't cutting it any more (re-usable).

Immediately following the transplant I put her in flower (12/12) and watched 'n waited. Many good people gave me great advice with my AK47 grow; I want to thank them all now for their efforts. With my temp's staying @ 82º with one central air conditioner, my electric bill was never a concern. Odor with these plants was minimal; I kept my walk in closet heavily ventilated to the attic, supplying fresh air constantly from outside. Resin production was heavy from week 3 onward, gushing out from the calyxes was a Luden's cough drop clear slime that stuck to everything. Resin production reminds me of a lot of Bubblegum plants I've seen, pulsating THC producing monster nuggs is all I have to say... Incredibly photogenic, this plant begs you to photograph her. I highly recommend her to any one just for the aesthetics and smell value. Overall this plant was pretty easy to maintain.

Smoke Report:

The smoke is very spicy, fruity in nature... I've heard it described as cherry and I concur. The stone is a very narcotic one. I let this plant go for 74 or so days; a lot of trichomes were dark colored. The smoke makes you cough and your eyes can water. Definitely bowl/bong weed. I hope I covered all the corners of this grow, thanks to everyone who helped along the way, and mega thanks to everyone who voted for me on Picture of the Week for this plant.

Yeah what can I say, AK47 is the "Real Deal" when you are looking to lay your friends out on a half a joint. Serious Seeds did a great job

Germinating: Unbelievable germ rates, 15 beans hatched under a paper towel within 24hours. 9 -15 females 2 runts 4 males.

Vegging: Vegged under a MH all showed sex within 4 weeks, vegged 5 weeks total.

Flowering:: Had a bit of N problem with them in flowering but they did fine. AK can be very sensitive at times when feeding, 1 plant will be starving while the other cant get enough. Keep an eye on them, the smell is strong in flowering take caution.

Harvest: I got an average of 4oz's per plant could of done better if I didn’t have the N problem. The final product is a real treat lots of orange and red hairs throughout the crystal coated bud. I harvested when Trichs were 70% amber 30%cloudy, around 50 days plus 3 days darkness.

Smell: When cured it smells very strong, I had them stored in a giant zip-lock baggie in a airtight container had still could smell it in the air.

The High: Legendary as far as potency goes it’s a 10. It starts in the head and works it self all over the body. The smoke is heavy, Expansive Lung Effect is how I would describe it. I wouldn’t recommend sharing this with novice smokers, I’m a heavy smoker and a few hits keeps me going for hours.

Overall: I would say this strain backs up its reputation, high germ rates..lots of females...nice buds...and of course the High. The photos represent AK47 around 30days flowering and then the budshots after harvest.

Ok here we go...

I cracked 2 of these babys using the paper towel method. They had split within 24 hours. They were then placed in rockwool cubes that had been soaked in a mild solution of formulex and put under the fluoresent.Within 2 days the tap root was showing out of the bottom of the cube so they were then placed in 5ltr pots filled with Bio Bizz all mix and placed in to the vegg room under the Hps.They quickly filled those pots and by the time it came to repot again i had already identified that i had one male, so i repotted the one remaining female and chucked the male.
Clones were taken, which rooted quite easily.
I vegged this plant untill it was 1 1/2 foot tall then it was transfered to the flower room.
The stretch was complete by week 4 of flowering where they had settled at 4 feet, by this time the smell was starting to chuck up and the first pistills had started to show.
By week eight the plant was amass with beautiful swollen pistills that were very very sticky to the touch, with a slight cough syrup smell that melted in to a earthy aroma.....
Manicuring was a breeze, hardly any leaf material to remove, so the take down didnt take long....
I've got to say that this is one of the strongest varities on the market, i personally thought it was to thought provoking(but that could just be my head at the mo),everyone else was left looking very stoned, you only need a few joints the buzz lasts for ages.
The taste was not totally cherry,it was fruity for sure but cherry i dont know...when you take a lug you can definatly taste fruity something but that then melts in to a earthy hashy type taste, it's very nice.
Hope my little smoke report has helped you make up your mind about this variety....dont smoke too many....

Pheno #1: My "cherry" pheno, it had the sweetest cherry smell in late veg/flower (the male had this smell too). Its buds were much less dense due to more sativa-ish, UN-nested bracts. Still, it had a very respectable yield. I never weighed the harvest but I'd say all my plants gave me close to 2oz dry, maybe more. This was my favourite during the grow, but that cherry goodness just didn't carry over into the taste like I thought it would, it still has a cherry taste, but lacks a tartness you expect. The potency on this one is not a 10, more like a 9 or so, just a little less like being ran over by a THC train. The sativa headiness comes through most noticeably on this pheno, and the motivational influence is less suppressed
Pheno #2: my "super musky" pheno. Super dense, resin oozing nugs. The smoke from this stuff is the 1-hitter quitter stuff 10/10 potency. Almost a dead ringer for pheno #3, except for the taste/smell which is hashy and strong, with a fruity kindness that starts to come through only after a nice 1 month cure.
Pheno #3: In the end this one is my favourite: "THE AK-47"
Look/Smell: Looks nice and crystally. I mean this stuff literally sparkles! Dense/compact super trichome covered green goodness, smells kind of hashy, and sour fruity maybe even cranberry like...after you break up a bowl there is dusting of crystals over your tray, and you have dusty sticky fingers...very resinous...
Taste: about the same as the smell, but the fruity-tartness goes away about halfway through the bowl and you get like a creamy hash taste that lingers. Top shelf stuff indeed!

High: this is some pretty powerful stuff...I get tremors after taking my first hit. You get a short-lived sativa rush, then about an hour will go by like nothing, during which time your thought processes will be going constantly, but before you have time to lock in a thought it will fall into obfuscation. Then, you are doomed by the indica body high that makes gravity feel like you are on Jupiter.
And when they say the smoke is expansive, they mean it. If someone tries to show off and take in a hero sized hit, it will hit back like an Ali punch to the dome, and they will end up down on the ground gasping for air between coughing fits.
I usually end up loading a bowl and nursing hits off of it instead of real stoner "smoke sessions"... if I tried I'd probably forget what I was doing halfway through. Half cashed bowls are not a rarity around here...again potency 10/10 with high and low notes.

All 3 had phenomenal yields, all in all some hard hitting stuff, I am pleased with serious' AK47, and I will definitely get around to growing/ smoking it again!

I started 5 AK47 seeds, all popped using paper towel method, 100% germed.

Using tweezers placed in 16 oz styrofoam cups. All broke thru the soil within 48 hrs.

Grows with strong vigor.

Vegged for apx. 30 days.

4/5 were females

Forced flowering by moving plants indoors for 12 hr dark cycle, otherwise grown in full sun outdoors in containers.

Flowered for 55- 62 days

This is a top notch strain, one of the best I have tried.
Tastes great and is quite potent

Two phenos found----same appearence, but different flavors and stone

1. Fruity-- tastes like FruitLoops cereal..fake strong fruity taste.
2. Cherry-- flavor more subtle, but sweet cherry taste is delicious.

Both are very gooey with little glands. I think the 2 has a more sativa quality to the high.

Only real problem with this strain is mold and esp. MILDEW outdoors.

Must be ever vigilant if growing outdoors in humid climate
I tried in NE US very tough in late Aug and Sept.

I will only grow these beauties indoors in future.

I have started with 8 seeds from S.S, got 3 females, very recommeded to first time grower (like me).

All seeds popup, I had 2 very nice girls (1.20 cm), I trim the lower branch to get a single (and very nice) cola .

I have veg it for 6 weeks, and flowered it for 60 days.
At flower time it got 3 times bigger. At the start the flower seem to be nice, but at the end, this flower became so so big...

I got 30-40 grams from each plant. The taste was so good, and the high is very hard, sometime this causes problems when you smoke it at nigth time, you can go to sleep after that...

For most people, 1 hit of ak47 will cause them to get very high, the will not leave your house very fast...

But I like ak47. I will grow it again, I have to, I don't know what I would do without ak .....
